This is the first trip we took with both grandkids - four and two years old.  They had a great time, and it was a really nice campground.   We took them on a Christmas boat ride on the Atchafalaya Basin where Papa Noel read "A Cajun Night Before Christmas" and took pictures with them.  I highly recommend this if you're in the area.  We cross the Basin every time we head East on I-10 but had never actually taken a boat ride on it.  It's a beautiful body of water with birds - no alligators this time, though!

  August 26, 2020 Mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Laura... Talk about leaving in a hurry!  Packed up a four-year old grandchild, headed down the road to Lampasas, Texas, with no provisions and no idea what we were doing. And the adventure began.  Arrived at a campground called  Our Friends Campground.  They were gracious and helped us out so much.  Especially as we were leaving on the Saturday after we arrived, backing up the SUV to hook up, and realized someone had stolen our hitch.  (Not at the campground - probably WalMart.)  So, off we go, again, but this time with two grandchildren (2 and 4) and head off to find a new hitch.  A seven-hour trip ended up taking 13 hours.  Needless to say, I wasn't sure I was made out for this camping life.  We had already run out of gas and lost the camper keys on the way home from picking up the camper.  So, we get home to no power, no water, almost no way to get down the streets.  ...

May 28 - 30, 2021 This is our second military campground.  The spots were so small that some RV's couldn't back in.  The grandkids came with us.  But, we had a little boy that would not leave our campground and truly ruined the experience for us.  The campground was well kept, but the bathrooms left something to be desired.  There was a logging competition going on Saturday, and that was interesting.  The lake and beach were great with a bounce pillow and a great playground.  We were able to walk with the grandkids and get ice cream and look at the boats.  I don't know if I'd go back because of the closeness of the sites.
