Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, St. Martinville, LA

September 10 - 12, 2021

Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, and more mosquitoes!  Beautiful park, but the bugs outnumbered us two to one.  We arrived on Friday and had planned on staying until Monday - my birthday.  But, once again, the weather decided to play with us.  And we ended up leaving Sunday afternoon.  Tropical Storm Nicholas (came in as a Hurricane 1) was nothing for us, but we couldn't take that chance.

The park is located along the Levee outside St. Martinville.  It's shady, peaceful, and lots of fishermen were there with their boats.  The splash pad for the kids was the best I've seen with several playgrounds throughout the park.  The bathrooms were very clean with showers, but the laundry room was closed.

There are no restaurants or stores close by, so make sure you bring in everything.  We were at a site with no sewer hook-ups, but that was not a problem as we were across from the bathrooms.  There was a troop of girl scouts staying down from us, and they had a blast.  Our site was on the water and had a dock, as did most of the ones on the water.  Several sites were reserved for Hurricane Ida evacuees, and the site we ended up with was very, very difficult to get back into.  We managed with much maneuvering.  It was a small park but had two camphosts who were friendly and helpful.

On Sunday morning, we had an alligator at our docks while we ate our breakfast.  She didn't bother us, and we left her alone!
