Chimney Rock, North Carolina

Nov. 20 - 28, 2021

Wow!  What a trip!  We began on Saturday and lot camped at Cracker Barrel in Suwanee, Georgia.  It was rainy and cold when we woke up on Sunday. We had breakfast and then hit the road.  We arrived at Hickory Nut Family Campground and set up.  What a gorgeous place to stay for the week!

After setting up, we headed to the grocery store.  We came back, and I fixed our routine chili and cornbread.

We got up the next morning and headed to Chimney Rock.  What a climb!  It was cold and very windy.

We then headed down to the falls where "The Last Mohican" was filmed.  Such a beautiful place.
We came down and ate in town.

Tuesday, we headed to Rumbling Bald where we hiked and met some rock climbers who allowed me to take their picture. We ate at Burntshirt Vineyards after heading to the Flowering Bridge.

Thursday was Thanksgiving Day.  We started the day with a short run and then I cooked turkey, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, rolls, and cranberry sauce.  We hung around the campground and enjoyed the day off.

Friday, we ended up going to Black Mountain and shopped.  We ate at a fantastic German restaurant and finished our souvenirs.  This was a trip I'd make again as the scenery was just beautiful.  Really relaxing.

We ended the day with a walk to downtown Chimney Rock next to the lake where "Dirty Dancing" was filmed.

Saturday. we headed home.  We stayed at Cracker Barrel in Mobile, Alabama, for the night, and came in on Sunday.  There was so much to do, and we enjoyed every bit of it and would love to go back.
