Guadalupe Mountains/Carlsbad Caverns
A trip that was so fun. We stayed at mile marker 309 in Texas on Friday night after leaving early that morning. It was very windy but looking out the window we could see the mountains. We got up the next morning and arrived at White's City RV Park, Whites City, New Mexico. It's a town at the base of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Very old park but perfect for our needs. We had a pull-in site next to the bathroom. We settled in and got ready for the next day. Sunday, we headed to Guadalupe Mountain National Park where we hiked and explored. This part of the U.S. is so beautiful with mountains in the Chihuahuan Desert. We then went into Carlsbad and ate dinner. I wanted Mexican food, but nothing was open, so we ended up at a Chili's. Monday, we had reservations for Carlsbad Caverns and went there. It is 7 miles into the park to the Caverns. We took the walkway down into the Cavern, and it took over an hour to get down there. It is 75 stories down and is just enormous. We took the elevator back up and ate lunch in the cafeteria. The food was not good and was expensive. We then drove back down a dirt road and ended up seeing about 30 ram on the side of the road. We left Tuesday, and got as far as outside of San Antonio at a safety rest stop where we stayed the night. We came in on Wednesday. All in all, it was an awesome trip and one I'd take again.
